On Thursday, the New York Times reported that the USCIS had already begun the process of preparing for passage of a Comprehensive Immigration Reform act. Although many have seen this as a sign that the Administration is serious about immigration reform, many others have criticized the agency for wasting the limited resources that the agency has available.
Personally, I think that the article and the buzz that it created may have put too much meaning into the comments made by Director Mayorkas that served as the basis for the article. Director Mayorkas simply stated that the agency was preparing for possible changes to America’s Immigration policy. As the director of an agency, isn’t he suppose to anticipate possible changes to his agency?
